Este fin semana 16 y 17 de junio, en Morgan’s Cove, Playa Jacó recibirá a la Copa Britt Iced, quinta parada –de siete- del Circuito Nacional Olympus que es presentado por Banana Boat, cita que propone el inicio de la recta final de un Campeonato que después de cuatro fechas, se mantiene aun sin fuertes candidatos al título nacional.

Debieron pasar seis años, temporada cuando ganó Diego Naranjo, para que en este 2012 el título estuviera abierto para cualquiera de los Top 10 de la categoría Open, una vez que el Circuito corriera más de la mitad de sus fechas.

Si bien esta temporada ha sido el año de un Noe Mar McGonagle que no ha visto más que el primer y segundo lugar de la tabla Open desde que arrancó el campeonato, 11 surfistas que llegaron al podio este año, de 16 posibles (4 por fecha), más que los ganadores no han sido los mismos, ha sido el principal factor para que este Circuito Olympus sea uno de los más luchados de la historia.

Recordemos que este año del total de siete fechas que se correrán, solamente las mejores cuatro corridas por cada uno de los competidores son las que les sumaran puntos. Así, estas dos siguientes fechas del Circuito Olympus, la Copa Britt Iced de Jacó y el Banana Boat Surf Challenge de Santa Teresa, serán más que fundamentales para pisar el acelerador por un campeonato al que ostenten estos 11 corredores, quienes hasta el momento son los que han dado mayor pista de que van por el título.

Por otra parte, la última vez que un surfista no jacobeño ganó una fecha del Circuito Nacional en esa playa, fue en 2008, cuando el excampeón nacional, Germaine Myrie de Puerto Viejo de Limón, se hizo con la cita; sin embargo, el corredor era residente de esa zona.

Y como si fuera poco, esta fecha ofrecerá al público concierto de Reggae con la banda Talawa, Dj’s, activaciones de la marcas patrocinadoras, autógrafos de las Miss Reef Costa Rica y la esperada pasarela de las chicas Cámelo con las mejores tablas de la tienda JASS Surf Shop de Jacó.

Esta pasarela se denomina Chicas & Chuzos, donde varias de las modelos más reconocidas del país estarán desfilando las mejores marcas de tablas en el mercado actual.

Esta fiesta se llevará a cabo el sábado 16 a partir de las 9:00 p.m. en el Bar Restaurante y Casino, del Hotel Morgan’s Cove. La entrada tiene un costo de 3.000 colones y desde ya están a la venta en JASS Surf Shop en Playa Jacó.
