Central America and Mainland Mexico Short-Range Surf Forecast (below published on 8/16th):

SOLID SURF THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK FROM THE SSW-SW

A blend of overlapping SSW (195-215) continues to increase to a peak as new energy arrives today and tomorrow. Thursday looks like the peak day, with solid moderate to plus sized surf. Size will slowly ease through the upcoming weekend and into early next week. Long-range models are showing a couple SW pulses arriving around the end of next week… maybe.

New SSW-SW (190-215) should be starting to bring more consistent chest to overhead+ surf to the exposed coast today. Standouts are looking at head high to well overhead surf, with potential for some double overhead or bigger waves at magnets and deepwater breaks Thursday as the swell mix peaks. A couple more reinforcing pulses will arrive Friday and Saturday to help maintain moderate to plus sized surf through the weekend. It doesn’t look like there’s much else to back it up though through next week.

Tropical Outlook

No tropical systems in the works right now, although there is an area of low pressure that is expected to develop over the next few days, and could show a little bit of development over the next several days as it moves WNW-NW. I’ll have more info for you Friday.

Swell is picking up, although Tamarindo is very well sheltered from this SW, there are 1-2ft waves within the high tide, its possible to do 2 sessions a day, with long board or SUP. Crowd remain in town, weather is the typical of a good rainy season. Every body is happy about that.

Langosta and Avellanas are getting the energy of this SW swell with up to 4ft in the best sets, no that much crowd in the glassy morning waves, nor along the choppy conditions in the afternoons.
