Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas

9/25 - Today, Wednesday, saw some head high fun sets with nice glassy shoulders and no crowd. The high tides are in the afternoon, and although the wind is calm all day, it usually takes a little rain to smooth out the faces. You take your chances with the weather right now and hope for evening glass.

Tamarindo

Seafari Costa Rica

Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica

9/24 - Swell decreased in Tamarindo during the weekend, Casita was fun both days Saturday and Sunday, 1-2ft waves within 13-15 secs periods, semi crowded erly mornings.

Avellanas been more exposed had an extra day of fun rides at Palo Seco, 2-3ft, crowded with old good friends.

It's low season, that means time to hang out with the locals and work on your dreams.

Nosara

Brayan at Surfing Nosara

9/26 - Waist high. The sun came out this morning after 2 days of non stop rain! The waves were kinda messy and slow but some fun peaks every once in a while, hip to chest high and a light off shore. It was fun to be in the water with this sunny day! Check out our daily photos here - LINK

9/24 - 3-4 ft fun, fairly clean conditions until the rain bumped it up a bit. Steady rain with very little wind. No crowds! New south swell filling in starting tomorrow. Any of the beachies will be the best bet with the smaller swell mix currently in the water. Quiet out here right now, many hotels and businesses offering low season discounts. Everyone stoked to see some consistent rain as the first half of the rainy season was relatively dry. Still plenty of fun surf to be had.

Outlook the same over the next few days with swell holding thru the weekend. Every Friday and Saturday- there are grassroots local surf contests being held in front of the Backyard around 4PM followed by live music. This weekend features LEMON HAZE Free in Concert at the Backyard following the Saturday Surf Series - always a good time!

Dominical

Costa Rica Surf Realty

Trevor at Costa Rica Surf Realty

9/25 - Currently the swell is dropping and the waves are chest high and super peaky. The low tides sessions have been good in the morning. Later today there is another swell filling in that look more like a wind swell. It could be super fun and peak with waves over head. The conditions have been best early in the morning as the afternoons have been windy. Look for good surf just after a hard downpour. Until next Thursday there are a mix of small swells but nothing of major size. Playa Dominical and Playa Hermosa have been fun and should be until late next week. Town is slow, but this mean that rentals are cheap and there is nobody in the surf but locals. Contact me for options on both long and short term rentals.

Dominical

Steve at Jazzys River House

Jazzys River House - Dominical

9/24 - Barrels for breakfast again yesterday. Beautiful carved barrels arching from both sides of consistent head high clean peaks. Yesterday was hot, sunny and dry and we had fairly clean peaks throughout the day. Then it started raining last night and is just now - mid morning - starting to clear. It's been a great week just past for good surf and small crowds. Playa Hermosa South has been trying to keep up and doing well - lot's of fun waist to shoulder high waves with mid-tides working best. Dominicalito has been better than average with more size than usual. It's full-on rainy season - the perfect time to make the most of the great food and exceptional live music each Friday night at Hotel Roca Verde. Ben Jammin' & the Howlers and their ultra hot electric fiddler Nancy Buchan provide the excitement to take your mind off the winter weather.
