Breakdown:

Caribbean Coast - Solid ENE maxes on Saturday with sets 1-2' overhead and then dropping a foot on Sunday. Then it falls fast to waist high by Tuesday with scattered chest high sets. It should rebuild Friday with a new ENE swell bringing back to head high.

Pacific Coast - It's a quiet week with waves dropping from head high down to waist high for the week. Consistent chest high waves every 15 minutes, but nothing bigger.

The Long Shot - A new SSW swell arrives next Saturday pushing in 1 foot overhead waves, but is mostly blocked by the Galapagos. Another South will keep it overhead by the 28th.

* The forecast is made using 15 years of wave model and report analysis, but can't be accurate 100% of the time. To do your own, use our links.

Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas

8/14 - The daybreak session this morning was short, but good, in the head high range fanned by brisk off-shores. Only a handful of people made it out in time. The afternoon high tide was completely blown out today but has been fickle and occassionally with at least decent form, if not off-shore. Conditions look good for the up coming week with the high tides both in the morning and afternoon for the first few days and then possible morning off-shores for the rest of the week and into the weekend as the el nino stretches our off-shore dry season. The sand is not terrific for the main break but there is a nice build up at Chicken Head rock at the north end of the beach where the peak has been working nicely right through the highest tides.

Tamarindo

Seafari Costa Rica

8/15 - Avellanas, encotramos buenas olas 2-3 pies solidos, consistentes y largas. El Estero y el Palo Seco muchisima gente. Cielo azul y vientos del Norte. Avellanas, Negra and Marbella are the most consistent breaks for this swell direction, been 3-4ft solid sets every 5-7minutes, crowded everywhere but everyone gets a wave.

Feliz dia de las Madres!

Nosara

Brayan at SurfingNosara.com

8/15 - Happy Mother's Day! All those surfing mommas out there got an incredible present of overhead offshore surf today. It isn't normal to have these offshores in August, but we'll take them. I am just happy that we are getting some rain in the afternoons. I heard that up North it is still pretty dry. Enjoy the photos

Dominical

Steve at Jazzys River House

Jazzys River House - Dominical

8/14 - Early morning high tide going down was clean and peaky and not quite head high overall. Brisk offshore following last nights hard rain under the usual partly cloudy blue sky gave those occasional perfect barrels some focus. Mid-morning low was still fun - just smaller. Mid-tide going up was a mixed bag of clean, polished shacks mingled with some unsightly broken walls. Lotta' waves, few surfers today. Hard to beat Dominical at the moment but Hermosa South and Dominicalito were above average all day. The point even was ride-able at lower tides but no one was out. Hotel Roca Verde - regular Friday night special: live and lively rippin' rock n' roll served with dinner. Swing by Jazzy's RiverHouse for off-season specials.
