Breakdown:

Caribbean Coast - Fading ENE swell starts the week with waves dropping from head high sets to almost nada. Mostly knee to waist through Saturday with a foot bump Sunday from the next building ENE swell.

Pacific Coast - As predicted, the SSW swell is bringing 1-2 foot overhead surf with a few bigger sets for the better south facing beaches. This swell drops to chest to head high by Wednesday, but a new one from the same direction pushes it back to 2 feet overhead by Saturday and staying overhead for the weekend.

The Long Shot - Nothing powerful around through the 26th, but on the 27th a new Southwest brings some 1-2 foot overhead waves through to the end of month.

* The forecast is made using 15 years of wave model and report analysis, but can't be accurate 100% of the time. To do your own, use our links.

Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas

4/11 - The surf has been small (head high sets for the most part) and good. The off shore wind blew too hard at times for great surf and a few people got popped in the face by wind propelled boards, but overall there wee some great sessions. The surfing tides are headed for the afternoon now and the Easter vacation crowd is filling in. Come join the party or find somewhere else to hide.

Tamarindo

Seafari Costa Rica

Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica

4/9 - Minimum conditions along the week, waves range 1-2 ft in Tamarindo, as usual for April it gets really hot and winds calm, double session days with glassy conditions in the morning and on shore winds in the early afternoon, this have not stopped the crowds to jump in the water and catch some waves. Playa Grande has been a bit more consistent, 2-3 ft waves within the incoming tides in the afternoon, sort of crowded but still waves for everyone. Pacifico Bar organize the Sunday Party in Tamarindo with Dj Bismark and great deals on drinks, pretty much 2x1 in cocktails and beers, it all starts around 9-10pm.

4/11 - Non stop fun waves! This coming week will be more of the same. A nice little SW bump will continue to produce head high waves at the standouts. Follow that up with a good sized SSW which will also produce some overhead sets starting on Monday through Wednesday. BOOOOHOOO, there will be a third SSW at the end of the week. Keep your board waxed and ready! The winds will hold steady in the mornings every day for the next week. If you only like onshore ramps than you should wait until after lunch! Pick up a souvenir T, sticker or mug that supports the local Howler Monkeys via SalveMonos.org. You can find them at Azul Profundo Boutique or Luna Llena Hotel in Tamarindo. Pura Vida. Thank you and be safe!

Nosara

4/11 - Guiones was great morning and evening sessions. Want proof? See the photos here - LINK Look for a slight increase in size but nothin spectacuIar in the makes. Lots of earthquakes the last few days. Always keep that in the back of your mind whiIe you are here. It was no fun the 7.6 we had a year and 1/2 ago. We feIt thousands of after shocks for 6 months afterwards. I am sure Nica is going through the same thing now, but problem is their aftershock was bigger than the earthquake yesterday meaning it wasn't an after shock it was a quake or a foreshock. Not saying anythng Doomy but trying to keep it in people's head. Pura Vida!

4/12 - A string of overhead and extra clean morning offshore sessions has slipped into a lower gear and yesterday some unsettled weather arrived giving us a brisk side-shore breeze and often messy conditions throughout the day. Plenty of good surf here the past few days including some shining barrel sessions. Hermosa South reports have all been good lately and Dominicalito has been it's usual mellow self but with a bump up in size. The Point has had some decent mid sized surf but not much for crowds. Surfer numbers are down at all area beaches. Friday the 18th - Good Friday is the 4th annual 'Dominical Lifeguards Semana Santa Surf Classic' surf contest featuring big waves and big prizes. Dominical Lifeguards go back on the Tower tomorrow for the first time since December 30th, 2013. Thanks to the generous donors who made it possible.
