Caribbean Coast - Fun chest to head high surf through Thursday and then more ENE swell bring overhead waves for the weekend. Expect it to grow to 3-4 feet overhead by next Monday when the swell maxes.

Pacific Coast - The WNW swell with a 20 second period brings some nice sized surf Tuesday and Wednesday morning but fades out by Thursday. There's no real swell to back it up so the rest of the week will be chest high or smaller through to next Tuesday. Bring a vest or springsuit to handle the cooler water temps up north due to upwelling.

The Long Shot - For size, head to the Caribbean. For fun, small surf the Pacific will be clean with sometimes too heavy offshores. The next swell to hit the Pacific side comes from the Southwest around 2/6 with some head high to overhead sets.

Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas

1/26 - We are enjoying perfect size, just overhead, surf here this week and are expecting more of the same with the high tides in the morning and the tidal movement slacking off for the next few days. The sand bars are not terrific so you have to pick 'em, and even then, only some are makable. There are lots of barrel rides and spitting waves. Saturday was a zoo with the small waves, probably because Playa Grande was the only break with any power. The water got a little colder this morning as it usually does this time of the year. A vest is handy.

James at SurfingNosara.com

1/26 - Fun fair conditions today with waves in the waist to chest range and a little soft. Wind was super offshore then super onshore and changing direction all morning. Buy your surf photos in the office between noon and 4pm daily. For the best deal come in daily and get an 8 gig flash drive then come any day after and the photos are half price.

1/23 - 2 ft SW/NW swell mix. Pretty small but still nice shape on set. Very clean conditions. Some cloudy days with a few rain showers in the last week, pretty weird for this time of year. Better swell for next week! Da beachies. Good luck to all the kids at the contest in Cocles!

1/26 - This morning at 7 am waves were knee to waist high, occasionally a chest high set. Light off shore wind and sunny clear skies. Classic summer waves as the tide was high. Small but some nice peaks breaking at the beach break.

Costa Rica Surf Realty

Trevor at Costa Rica Surf Realty

1/23 - Currently the waves are tiny shin to hip high waves. None the less, there are tide phases that are still fun to surf. The conditions have been glassy all day so keep your eye on the surf for those magical windows of fun. There are peaks up and down the entire beach now so walk around and find some open waves. This weekend we might see a bump in size but nothing to froth about. Next week we could also see a mix of small surf. Playa Hermosa might have some waves at select tide phases, but Dominical has more size. Bring out your long board and fun summer boards. Lots of live music in town. Week nights at Tortilla Flats, friday nights at Roca Verde with Ben Jammin with Rum Bar having the afterparty with more live music. Del Mar Taco Shop is new and serving some epic fish tacos. Mono Congo near the river has insane coffee. Its summertime and town is fun!! For surf side rentals contact me.

Steve at Jazzys River House

Jazzys River House - Dominical

1/23 - Playa Dominical so far today has the smallest waves I've seen in 18 years. It's technically not 'flat' but it's close. The biggest set waves are maybe knee high. We've had mixed summer weather lately, some rain, some sun, plenty of cloud action. Even a couple of electrical storms recently. Not much for waves anywhere locally. Playa Hermosa South is smaller even than Dominical and Dominicalito is, well, it's flat. So is the Point. Time to go fishing folks.
Hotel Roca Verde still drawing a good crowd every Friday night with live music and good food and a lively atmosphere. Jazzy's River House has great deals to offer on lodging, surf lessons, board sales and rentals, arts and craft sales and classes, yoga sessions and therapeutic body work. Check our website: www.jazzysriverhouse.com or come by and say hi.
