Breakdown:

Caribbean Coast - Dropping ENE swell from waist to chest down to knee high by Thursday with no relief through the weekend. Unless a tropical system rolls through, expect it to be small.

Pacific Coast - Small surf for the week from a Southwest swell blocked by the Galapagos. Waves will be in the chest high range until Thursday. Then another Southwest arrives (18 second period) with a slightly better angle bringing head high surf for the weekend.

The Long Shot - More Southwest swells push a week from Monday with a 16 second period and overhead surf lasting through next Wednesday.

* The forecast is made using 16 years of wave model and report analysis, but can't be accurate 100% of the time. To do your own, use our links.

Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

Louis at Hotel Las Tortugas

8/21 -The still consistent off-shores are often lasting all day for the possibility of two sessions. The swell came up a little today after several very nice formed smaller days in the shoulder high range. The water is clear and there are light crowd sessions. The high tides will be in the morning through the weekend and ideal for good surf.

Our small, ecotouristic beach front hotel is located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. Since prehistoric times, Playa Grande has been one of the world's principle nesting beaches for the Giant Leatherback Sea Turtle. Louis Wilson, the founder of Hotel Las Tortugas, was instrumental in preserving Playa Grande as one of the last functioning, healthy nesting areas in the world for this now highly-endangered species.

Join us and witness this spectacle of nature which occurs at our doorstep every October through February. Get details of these tours here: www.lastortugashotel.com

Tamarindo

Seafari Costa Rica

Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica

8/20 - Conditions had been minimum along the last days, 1-2ft in the best sets and well, they do not come that often; great conditions due the lack of wind, for a long session of SUP touring around the island and to Playa Grande.

Langosta is more exposed to this South swell, with some 2-4ft in glassy, perfect shaped conditions, soft winds in the morning, partially crowded by some Langosta residents and pelicans.

Summer is almost over, waves will remain breaking for locals and random visitors, the most adventurous will visit us along the green season to scuba dive with bull sharks, catch some "empty" waves of free dive with Seafari Costa Rica to catch some parrots or snapper fish for lunch.

As usual, the talented Tony & Roy will be playing this evening starting around 7:30 p.m. Come and enjoy a fine meal and drink and superb music! at Dragon Fly every Thursday night.

We operate year long, contact us info.seafaricr@gmail.com
