Caribbean Coast - Friday is the only small day in this forecast as the first ENE swell arrives Saturday and that is backed up by a BIGGER ENE arriving late Monday, pushing in surf up to double overhead at the premier reef passes. The swell stays around through Wednesday and drops only couple of feet by next Friday, but still overhead for the weekend.

Pacific Coast - WNW swell holds up for Friday, but then fades for the weekend leaving chest high surf by Monday. Tuesday through Thursday look small, and then some more South mixed with WNW pushes it back up to head high starting Friday and extending into next weekend.

The Long Shot - With major storms heading off the coast of the U.S., expect them to push in major waves to the Caribbean. On the Pacific, more WNW swell arrives by the 28th, mixing with leftover South swell which means overhead A-frames for the last few days of the year.

Witchs Rock

Walter at H2OGoSouth - Boat Trips to Witchs Rock and Ollies Point

12/15 - Offshore winds and chest-head high barrels! This is what we have been enjoying at Witches Rock these past days, and the swell is just starting. Ollie’s Point is also seeing epic conditions, but the WNW swell is not getting in there. Witches Rock will go off this whole week! Offshore winds, uncrowded peaks, and hollow barrels await you at Witches Rock. Ollie’s will be firing only Wednesday and Thursday, don’t miss out! Barrel fest at Witches! Don’t miss out!

12/16 - The morning high tides have brought us some great waves this week and should continue at least to the weekend. The bump in the swell on Saturday was a nice break in the consistent head/shoulder high swells we’ve had for so long, even though there were a high percentage of close outs in the slightly overhead surf probably due to the swell direction. Look for more of the same and watch the wind reports as we move into the afternoon high tides for surfing over the weekend. This is a great time for surfing in Playa Grande with the often cloudy overhead conditions, moderate off-shores, and smaller swells which are magnified here and quite often clean.

Seafari Costa Rica

Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica

12/16 - Having a lot of fun in our backyard, this swell direction is hitting Tamarindo at its best, Henrry’s Point, Pico Grande and River mouth are working great with the incoming tides, early birds are getting the bigger bombs. Beach breaks have been more crowded than the rocky bottom spots. We kept it local since the swell is working so good here, however got report of similar conditions in Marbella and Negra. Tamarindo Growing Together, the Association for Integral development of Playa Tamarindo and the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism of Tamarindo invite to the big fund raising for lifeguards, security, recycling, Oneida park and many more projects of interest for our community. Pangas restaurant, Saturday 20th, from 4:30pm to 12pm, entrance $10 adults, $5 kids under 10y/o. 12/15 - Big props to Playa Negra's Aldo Chirinos who won the Gold for under 16 at the Central American Surfing Games!!!We had a great north swell this past weekend. Standouts were overhead and clean. this week we are looking towards having plenty of surf as well. The north facing points will be pumping all week. At the end of this week we will see a nice SSW which will combo the peaks with the norths. Overall we are looking at another week of of shores. It may turn late on Wed/Thursday late but may come back around by the end of the day. Don't forget to pick up a souvenir T, sticker or mug to support the non-profit helping the local howler monkeys. SalveMonos.org. Find them at Azul Profundo Boutiqe or Luna Llena Hotel in Tamarindo. Thanks and be safe!

Nosara Shack

Graham at NosaraShack.com

12/17 - Surf has been really fun mid morning with the tide dropping out a little. Today was no different. Head high on the sets and really hollow. Look for a small increase in size into tomorrow. Enjoy the photos and the rest of the week.

12/16 - Currently set waves are chest high at best. However it looks like there is a small mix of swells coming in this week. The size should remain small with set waves between knee and head high all week. The conditions have been cleaning up as we move into our summer months but it is still idea at sunrise until about 9am and from 4:30pm-dark. The entire beach is surfing well with peaks from the river mouth to Roca Verde. Get out there and find your own peak. Playa Dominical and Playa Hermosa are the only waves breaking this week. Dominical is your best bet for the most size and power. Live music at Tortilla Flats on Wednesday and a disco on Saturday. Laddies night on Wednesday night at Maracatu. Friday night music at the Rum Bar and at Roca Verde.

Steve at Jazzys River House

Jazzys River House - Dominical

12/8 - We slipped back into the rainy season this past week with three days of wind and rain. The waves have been small - head high or less but remain peaky and well formed. The sandbars are holding and the conditions clean up nicely between rain storms. Plenty of fun waves at all tides. Crowd levels still sparce for the most part. Playa Dominical has had the most to offer lately but Playa Hermosa has had some fun sessions on the small side and Dominicalito has been it's usual small and mellow self. Another packed house for Roca Verde last Friday night so make plans to come early next Friday for great food and live music with Ben Jammin' and the Howlers and Nancy Buchan on electric fiddle! Check www.jazzysriverhouse.com or stop by and inquire about our specials and discounts on lodging, arts & crafts, therapeutic body work, yoga classes and surf lessons.
