Breakdown:

Caribbean Coast - Friday is the smallest day, with waist to chest high sets. Then a ENE swell with a 10 second period keeps it 1-2 feet overhead though Monday with a couple of bigger sets. It only fades a foot Tuesday and should stay overhead for the rest of next week.

Pacific Coast - SSW swell arrives Saturday with a 15 second period but only lasts a day, dropping for 1 foot overhead Saturday afternoon to chest to head by Monday. Then look for more background South and SSW swell to keep it chest to head high through the week, with a few overhead sets Thursday.

The Long Shot - June starts off with a South swell arriving on the 2nd with overhead waves. Then a solid Southwest swell is on its way for June 5th, bringing 2 feet overhead surf.

TOP NEWS

--> 5/25 - This weekend: Master Circuit Longboard & SUP & Going to Mal Pais: RESULTS ARE IN...

--> 5/23 - TicoDeporte.com interviews Noe Mar McGonagle. In this video, Noe discusses his childhood, his start in surfing, life in Pavones, Costa Rica, his family, and what he thinks of his recent achievements (i.e. ranking #12 in the WQS of the World Surfing League).

--> 5/17 - Kölbi National Tour's May 2015: Alberto Muñoz is FOX CUP CHAMPION!

TRAVEL

--> 5/22 - Santa Teresa lifeguards get creative to keep beaches safe. Motivated by increased drownings that they perceived as preventable, a group of passionate people in this small, yet increasingly popular beach town have started their own nonprofit lifeguard program, Santa Teresa Lifeguards. According to the Costa Rican Red Cross, since 2010 an average of one person has drowned every four days in Costa Rica. The Santa Teresa Lifeguards hope to reduce the size of this tragedy. But they face obstacles.

--> 5/20 - The free Off The Grid Traveler app for iOS and Android takes complex travel systems and makes them simple to use. The premier Costa Rica add-in (also free) includes more than 15,000 bus, train and ferry routes for the entire country of Costa Rica. Each route recommendation includes accurate departure/arrival stations and times, and the app also includes Google Map integration. Select your current location from the pull down menu, select your destination from the next pull down menu and the app tells you all available means of public transit to get to and from any place in Costa Rica.  “Perhaps best of all, this can all be done with no internet connection at all,” added Yorkovich. Off The Grid Traveler also has an in-app Facebook social feature that allows like-minded travelers to connect and share travel experiences with one another.

Tamarindo

Seafari Costa Rica

Alejandro at Seafari Costa Rica

5/19 - Waves had been fun and weather remains dry, 2-3ft average along the weekend at River Mouth and Pico Grande, not so crowded, probably most people were at Jaco for the Copa Fox.

Avellanas was a lot more consistent 2-4 in the best sets, La Purruja was the less crowded spot mostly for the fact of real commitment to drop that shallow reef and hollow left.

Salsa Lessons by Alejandra Parody, at Maluco on Thursday 21st of May, the money goes to ADIT and its projects to keep improving Tamarindo; for a minimum donation of US $10 you are in.

Nosara

James at SurfingNosara.com

5/23 - Surf today is Big! Maybe not double overhead but almost on some of the set waves. The surf looked fun, it was big but still manageable, the paddle out didn't look to bad and there was some smaller soft waves to have in between the big sets, also the wind was nice and offshore.   For Surf Photos stop by the office between 1pm and 4pm monday-saturday to buy daily surf photos. Buy a few online at nosaraphotography.com but we have over a 1000 plus photos each day that we can't put online so for the best deal be sure to stop by the office before you leave town. Did you know you can also book a private photo or video session email photos@surfingnosara.com Don't wait until your last day, we now put all the photos on a usb flash drive which you can fill up daily so don't wait until your last day because you might miss out! thanks!

Dominical

Steve at Jazzys River House

Jazzys River House - Dominical

5/17 -Today had a slow low tide start with too many long walls, dumping hard and yet the handful of surfers out got an occasional serious shoulder including a few decent barrels - short but sweet. Some bigger set waves were overhead with winter punch and a brisk offshore. Mid-afternoon rising tide session was the best in weeks maybe with head high, clean, shapely, user friendly waves and light crowds. Classy summer conditions.  Ending with a much needed rain squall. Both Hermosa South and Dominicalito have had better luck with our recent swell than Dominical. Hermosa with more size and consistency than Dominicalito.
Quiet times for the Point. .
Friday nights remain the one consistent highlight of the week with good food, good music and good cheer.  Rock out with Ben Jammin and the Howlers and Nancy Buchan's electric fiddle at Hotel Roca Verde.

Check www.jazzysriverhouse.com for rainy season discounts on arts and crafts classes, Surf lessons, and therapeutic East/West body and energy work.
