Central America and Mainland Mexico Short-Range Surf Forecast (below published on 9/30th):

SSW HOLDS ITS PEAK FRIDAY AND EASES THROUGH THE WEEKEND

SSW (190-200) holds its peak through Friday before backing off gradually over the weekend. Next week is looking smaller, but we’re expecting new SSW (200-210) swell to fill in on Tuesday helping at least bring back a little push that will hold through midweek. Long-range models show more prominent swell for around the 1oth.

SSW (190-200) should have peaked Thursday, but will hold solid head high to well overhead surf for standouts on Friday. More average breaks are going to be running chest to overhead+. Wave heights will gradually ease through the weekend and start of next week.

New SSW-SW (205-215) is due to arrive on Tuesday and should build to a 2-3 foot peak on Wednesday. Wave heights will be running waist to head high+ at standouts along the exposed coast through midweek, so it should at least be fun despite on the smaller side.

Tropical Outlook

Tropics are showing one area of low pressure off the Central Mexico coast, but only give it a 30% chance of becoming a cyclone over the next 5 days. I wouldn’t count on it being a swell maker.

This has been, quite possibly, the best September in memory. these last two weeks we have bee blessed with epic swell. The swell continues and the morning conditions have been the icing on the cake. At this posting it is still well overhead here and firing. there will be good waves and condition through Saturday. Sunday starts with smaller conditions throughout the next week.
Although morning winds have been nothing left than spectacular, this coming week looks to be changing as we begin to see more regular onshore winds coupled with periodic and sometimes heavy rains. Check out Salvemonos.org. Buy a souvenir T, sticker or mug at Luna Llena hotel or Azul Profundo Boutique. All proceeds go directly to our beloved monkeys. Thanks and be safe!

After a fun weekend with 3-4 ft waves in Tamarindo, the calm waters are back, on shore winds in the mid mornings, some rains in the afternoon every other day, not so many people either in the water or at the beach, chill energy all around town, we are all living the slow season at its best.

Langosta and Avellanas still good options to get some late afternoon rides away from the schools, 2 ft solid and long rides with not so many people either.

Live music with Will Matthews dinner show at Coconut restaurant, Tuesdays from 7pm to 9pm.

Also Seafari Costa Rica invites families, groups of friends, couples or single travelers to contact us to arrange all you need for your vacation plans in Thanks giving, housing, surfing, transportation, National parks and many more adventures on the list. info.seafaricr@gmail.com

August and September are great months to go out and down to spear some fish, join us in the adventure, the only previous experience you need is to know how to use the snorkel gear,we teach you the rest, the plus is the fresh scallop ceviche we make on board. Contact Seafari Costa Rica

The surf has been really fun this week with the morning high tides and some decent off-shores. You just never know at this time of the year. Be more careful this week now that the high tide is moving into the afternoon and the wind will blow out a lot of the sessions.

The turtles are arriving so please don’t visit the nesting beach by boat (or jet ski) and stay away from the Tamarindo lagoons. They are full of crocodiles and the locals in Tamarindo are hand feeding them which accustoms them to associate humans with food.

Las Tortugas Hotel has doubles in our economy rooms for $25/ night and apartments up the road for as low as $20/night if you want to chance the weather conditions.

Bring deet repellant, rain gear, and sun protection.

Take the ferry boat to Tamarindo and avoid the toothy wildlife.

Hotel Roca Verde continues it's live music scene with the G-String Cowboys livening up Thursday nights with their fine acoustic blend of blues and country rock and Friday nights belong to Ben Jammin' and the Howlers with 'electric ladyland fiddler' Nancy Buchan. Great food, great music, just don't dance on the tables as this makes Don Juan the waiter nervous.
