Breakdown:

Caribbean Coast - The surf season has started with a ENE swell keeping it head high or better through midday Thursday, then dropping to mostly waist to chest high waves for the weekend. A new ENE arrives Tuesday with more head high surf and will increase in size later next week.

Pacific Coast - Continued minimal surf until Friday when a SSW arrives late in the day with some overhead sets. Size increases to 2 feet overhead Saturday and then drops a foot Sunday. The swell fades out Monday leaving small conditions for next week.

The Long Shot - Nothing over head high expected for the Pacific coast through next Saturday. As the South Pacific season winds down the Caribbean is starting to fire up.

Playa Grande

Hotel Las Tortugas

11/15 - The morning high tides have brought traditional clean November surf to Playa Grande. The morning wind has been off-shore all week and should continue. The good surf is head high plus on the sets and the sky is surf friendly overcast. EVERYBODY is surfing at the best tides. Since Playa Grande sticks so far out in the Pacific, it can break when everybody else is coasting on longboards or recovering in bed from hangovers. On the other hand, the windows are 5 hours long and there are times when it doesn’t seem crowded. Saturday should be a big surf party here - bring a date.

Tamarindo

Seafari Costa Rica

11/12 - A new tourist season is about to begin, we are all now getting ready and hoping for good waves to all. Small 1-2 ft waves in Tamarindo, been great for SUPers and beginners to practice and ride the clean sets that hit the beach break, felt more crowded during the weekends, rain seems to move away. Playa Grande, been more exposed to the swell enjoyed some 2-3ft solid and long waves at the main break. Despites the crowd there were waves for everyone.

Monday the 17th to Friday the 21st Asociacion Nacional de Guardavidas will be instructing the Open Water lifeguard course. Cost of program is US$ 150 per person, certification is regcognized by International Life Saving (ILS). Registration is still open, contact info.seafaricr@gmail.com for further information or to register.

11/14 - There have been a few fun waves this past week. At the time of this writing the swell is dropping. Break out the fun shapes and long boards because it looks a bit lackluster for the first time in ten months. South swell standouts like Langosta and Grande are the best bets this week. The wind looks solidly offshore for most of the next week. Yes, dry season has arrived. Don't forget to pick up a souvenir T, sticker or mug to support the monkey non-profit SalveMonos. All proceeds go towards hanging bridges over power lines. Pura vida, thanks, and be safe!

Nosara

11/14 - Surf looks fun today, high tide and slow rolling waves coming through. Tomorrow should be more of the same. Bring some big equipment and enjoy the glide.

11/17 - Buenas Tardes amigos. Friday and Saturday had us feeling some good offshore winds, but it slowly crept back around the other way, and the rains also came back yesterday. The surf this morning was in the chest high range, a bit mixed up with several run-outs pumping through the lineup. The rights seemed better than the lefts for sure. We'll expect the swell to slowly fade over the week. I thought we were switching over into the summer mode, but apparently we aren't quite there yet.

Steve at Jazzys River House

Jazzys River House - Dominical

11/15 - The morning high tide sessions have been excellent. A little overhead, peaky and clean and un-crowded. Tending to close out despite being peaky but otherwise lots of fine waves continuing throughout the day at all tides depending on the daily weather. It's still the green season and the afternoons are mostly rainy. Playa Hermosa has been smaller than Dominical but fairly clean and also not crowded. Dominicalito has been inconsistent at best lately - mostly too small and mellow. No serious Point action. Join Ben Jammin' & the Howlers including fiddler extraordinaire Nancy Buchan each Friday for a lively night of great food, music and fun. Check with Jazzy's RiverHouse for low-season discounts on lodging, therapeutic body work, yoga and surf lessons. See www.jazzysriverhouse.com
