BUILDING SSW-SW SWELL THROUGH THE WEEK

Central America and Mainland Mexico Short-Range Surf Forecast (11.28.16)

SW (210-220) builds through the start of the week, with more with another round of SW (210-220) blending in Thursday/Friday bringing moderate sized surf for the upcoming weekend.

SSW-SW (205-215) energy that arrived Sunday/Monday will continue to build to a peak Tuesday with around 2-3 feet of deepwater swell. It should be enough to help maintain waist to head high surf at standouts through the first half of the week. As that swell energy eases, we’re going to see more SW (210-220) starting to blend in midweek building through Thursday and Friday. This new energy will continue to build to a peak with around 2-4 feet Saturday. Surf is likely to continue running waist to head high along the exposed coast. Standouts could be seeing set waves running head high to overhead+. The energy will have periods around 14 to 15 seconds, so it wont be super powerful, but enough to produce at least some fun surf along the exposed coast and some better size for standouts. Size will start to slowly ease Sunday, backing off through the first half of next week.

Tropical Outlook

No tropical cyclones at this time.

12/1 -

The swell jumped on Thursday but the wind is switching in the afternoon for high tide and not holding up the speedy sections. Even so, there was a occasional makable overhead wave. Now that the swell has come up and other breaks in our area are working, the lineup has thinned out.

The weekend should be better with the high tides at daybreak and a better chance for off-shores to clean it up.

The hotel has plenty of space right now with economy doubles beginning at $35/night.

If you want to help protect the turtles and don’t come by motor boat to Grande and avoid the motor boat tours in the estuary to conserve the salt water forest in the park.

Bring insect repellant, sun screen, and rain gear - a girlfriend/boyfriend wouldn’t hurt.

Take the ferry boat to Tamarindo and avoid the toothy wildlife.

Tamarindo

Seafari Costa Rica

- 12/1

Its been a long transition to the dry season, waves remain small 1-2 ft in Tamarindo, winds shifting along the day breaking the surface and pushing down the waves, lots of beginners just don't care and go out to enjoy the learning process, SUPs go out for long distances and improve their paddle techniques, weather mostly over cast, thankfully Tamarindo was not affected by Hurricane Otto, unfortunately other communities are, so its a good time to help with donations of food, clothes and medicines, please refer to the Red Cross or CNE to send your donations.

Avellanas and Langosta are great for the incoming swell, 2-3ft some solid 4ft waves in the best sets, its crowded since the tourist season started.

This Saturday, 12/3, after sunset, Tamarindo Street Food we have only the greatest food vendors coming and serving you some awesome food this Saturday from 5pm to 10pm!

Support local theater and have a fun night out. Buy tickets in Tamarindo at Jaime Peligro's Bookstore. Or in Brasilito at La Oliva. $12 or 6500 ahead of time or $15/8000 colones at the door.

Dominical

Jazzys River House - Dominical

Steve Fergus at Jazzys River House

- 12/2

Hurricane Otto has hovered around Dominical with mostly light rains and moderate winds and grey skies. Surf conditions have run from very good to stormy. No big waves lately. Modest size, 3'-4', but winter power and rugged rips. Some nice peaky, glassy sessions with or without rain. Strange. Latest seasonal storm ever around here. Hey Otto, wrong time wrong place dude.

Playa Hermosa has been first choice when Dominical is blown out. As usual, a little smaller than Dominical and more manageable. Dominicalito has had some fun clean windows lately and has gained a bigger crowd.

Hotel Roca Verde is live music central with the G-String Cowboys enlivening the dinner scene on Thursday evenings then Ben Jammin' and the Howlers rock the Friday night crowd with the help of Nancy Buchan and her magic fiddle.

Check with www.jazzysriverhouse.com for special deals on special items. Visit Ruby's 'Palm Part Art' gallery and studio and ask Ruby about her 'Palm Part Art' classes. And check with Steve for surf instruction and board rental, yoga classes and East/West massage therapy. All under one roof, just a short walk from the beach.
